Herve Leger Spring 2012 campaign featuring Fatima Siad


Fatima Siad is a 25 year old Somali-Ethiopian fashion model who made her debut on cycle 10 of America's Next Top Model where she scored third place.  Born in MogadishuSomalia to a Somali mother and an Ethiopian father, she grew up in Somalia with her mother and two sisters. At age 7, Fatima underwent female genital cutting and later lost her two sisters to the civil war in Somalia. Fatima and her mother fled to safety in the United States when she was thirteen where she lived in a shack and suffered low self-esteem. She however went on to complete  high school and went to Bryn Mawr College and New York University  where she studied pre-med and political science.
 Fatima Siad is currently signed with New York Model Management, L.A. Model Management Oui Management in Paris, Ace Models in Athens, Ice Models in Milan, and Munich Models. Fatima has been featured in magazines like the Boston Globe, a Essence Magazine, Look Magazine UK, Marie Claire, Cosmo Girl, Maggie Norris Couture, Ebony Magazine, Women's Wear Daily, Elle and the Amuser. She has also graced the covers of Colures Magazine and Front Page Style. Siad has walked the runway for the likes of  Gemma Kahng, Betsey Johnson, Dries Van Noten, Andrew Gn, Hermès and Thierry Colson. Alongside modeling, Fatima speaks openly about female genital circumcision and hopes to change the practice to make it "less horrendous" for young girls. Beauty and brains... inspiring
